The ScanmySpeed Internet connection test checks the actual browsing speed of your browser and internet connection. Your internet speed is tested by sending small packets of data over the network in a way similar to the way you browse a website. ScanmySpeed does not use Flash, Java or any external programs/add-ons to run these speed tests; it uses javascript, a component thats always present on your browser to check your browsing speed.

The consistency of your internet speed may vary from time to time depending on the internet usage of other applications on your system at that given point of time.

Speed Tests
ScanmySpeed provides express, normal and extended speed tests. The express speed scan tests your internet speed by sending and receiving smaller and lesser packets of data when compared to the normal speed scan. The express scan is thus a fatser way to check your speed but the results are less accurate. The normal scan sends and receives the recommended size and amount of data and therefore provides accurate speed test results. The extended speed scan sends and receives a lot of data and requests over your network. The results are most accurate but the test takes a lot longer that the normal and express tests.
